Lookup Polk County Inmate Records

Polk County inmate records are searched through the county jail roster first, then through state and federal systems when the person is not in local jail custody. A Polk County jail roster search can confirm current custody, booking charges, housing, bail, court, and next court date after processing. Look up Polk County inmates with the roster, but use the jail phone, inmate-information request form, Oregon Offender Search, BOP, ICE, and VISOR when the roster does not answer the custody question.

Polk County Jail Roster Overview

Current Polk County inmate records begin at the Sheriff's Office Inmates In Custody gateway. That county page says roster names are people currently in custody at the Polk County Jail in Dallas, Oregon. It also says the roster updates hourly and that a missing name most likely means the person has not yet been processed into the facility. The gateway points to the official JDS New Inmate Roster, which is a public table rather than a searchable database form.

The roster is only one custody channel. It does not replace Oregon court records, state prison records, or federal custody tools. A person sentenced to ODOC custody should be checked through Oregon Offender Search. A sentenced federal inmate is searched through the BOP inmate locator. Immigration custody is checked through the ICE Online Detainee Locator. VISOR is for custody-status notification, not a roster substitute.

Use the Polk County Jail Roster

The Polk County roster is plain and print-oriented. It has a Print button, a run date and time, male and female sections, and rows with charge and custody details. There is no public last-name search field on the JDS page. The fastest method is to open the current roster, use browser find for the last name, and check alternate spellings if the name has hyphens, initials, or multiple surnames.

  1. Open the county Inmates In Custody page and read the roster notices before continuing.
  2. Go to the linked JDS roster and check the Run Date/Time at the top of the table.
  3. Use browser find for the last name. Search manually if spelling could vary.
  4. Read the Jail ID, House, Charges, Court, Current Disposition, Total Bail, SID, Book Date, Attorney, Next Court Date, Arresting Agency, and Release Date fields.
  5. If the person is not listed, call Polk County Jail Records at 503-623-9254 or use the state, federal, immigration, or Marion County fallback that matches the facts.

The Polk County Inmates In Custody gateway is the county source for roster scope, update timing, and booking-photo removal.

The gateway notice is important because it explains why a new arrest may not appear on the roster right away.

Polk County Roster Search Fields

The county roster workflow has two parts: the gateway acknowledgement and the JDS table. Because JDS publishes a current table, the search fields are really table features and browser tools rather than form inputs. This is different from Oregon Offender Search, which has name and SID fields.

What Polk County Inmate Records Show

A Polk County inmate record is a current-custody row, not a full criminal history. It can confirm that a person is in the jail, show the court or authority tied to the custody, list booking or hold text, and post bail and court-date fields when available. It does not show full date of birth, physical description, phone account data, detailed court documents, or a public booking photo.

FieldWhat It Shows
Jail IDLocal five-digit jail number observed on roster rows.
NameRoster name in last-name-first format.
HouseHousing or status code such as a unit, HOLD, MED, or Booking label.
ChargesCharge, warrant, sanction, or hold text as posted by the jail.
CourtCourt or authority connected to the row, including local, state, county, or federal names.
Total BailDollar amount shown per charge or entry. A zero amount may still involve a hold.
Next Court DateScheduled court date and time when posted.
Release DateScheduled or posted release date for some sentenced or sanction entries.

Note: Booking charges can differ from formal court charges after prosecutor review.

Polk County Jail Contact

Use the jail information line when a name does not appear, when processing may not be complete, or when a posted hold or bail row needs confirmation. Use the county's online form when the roster does not provide the inmate information needed and the request is not a court-file request.

Request Polk County Inmate Information

Polk County provides a Request Inmate Information form for inmate questions not already answered online. The form asks for the requester's name, email address, matching email confirmation, inmate name, and a description of the information requested. It is protected by Google reCAPTCHA and has an option to receive an email copy.

The form is not a promise that all records will be released. If the request seeks an official copy, a historical booking record, or a record covered by an exemption, Oregon public-records law and the agency with custody of the record control the response. For court records, use Polk County Circuit Court or Oregon Judicial Department systems instead of the jail form.

The county inmate-information form shows the exact fields needed for a Polk County inmate records request.

The form is useful after a roster search, especially when the public table does not answer a specific custody question.

Polk County State Federal Lookup

Do not use one locator for every custody type. The Polk County jail roster is for current local jail custody in Dallas. Oregon Offender Search covers current ODOC custody and local Community Corrections records and can be searched by first, middle, last, or SID number. The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward. ICE's locator can be searched by A-Number and country of birth or by biographical data.

VISOR is another channel, but it serves a different need. The Polk FAQ lists VISOR at 888-749-8080, and Oregon DOC describes VISOR as a free, confidential, opt-in notification system for custody-status changes, transfers, and releases. Use it for alerts after identifying the right person or case. Also remember the Salem caveat: a person arrested in Salem may be taken to Marion County Jail or Polk County Jail, so check the arrest location and agency before assuming the Polk roster is the only local list.

Polk County Booking Process

After an arrest, the person is transported to the Polk County Jail when the arrest or hold belongs in that custody path. Intake creates or updates identifiers, collects basic booking information, handles property and screening, and assigns classification and housing. The public roster later shows the Jail ID, SID if available, House code, charges, court, bail, and court-date fields. The county warns that a person not shown may not have been processed yet.

The jail manual covers orientation, housing expectations, classification, administrative segregation, disciplinary segregation, request forms, food service, medical services, grievances, mail, tablets, commissary, and PREA. The jail also posts a medical professional number, 503-831-1738, for concerns about suicide or emotional distress. Those internal processes do not all appear on the public roster, but they explain why a booking row is only part of the custody record.

Polk County Jail Visitation

Visits are scheduled by housing assignment and gender. Each inmate can have two one-half-hour visits per week. Visitors need picture identification, may be searched, cannot bring children under 18, and cannot have contact visits. Bags and purses must stay outside the visitation area, with lockers available in the waiting area. Booking visits are appointment-only on Saturday afternoon by calling the jail.

Polk County Mail Phone Money

Ordinary inmate mail is not sent to the public jail location. Polk County uses TextBehind for non-legal mail, which is scanned and delivered through tablets. Legal or official mail can go to the jail when properly labeled and verifiable. Most inmates have phone access from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, but calls are collect only, incoming calls are not accepted, and personal calls are recorded and monitored.
